Primate watching, gorilla tracking in Uganda National parks -14 days

This 14 days Uganda safari takes you through all the major safari destinations in Uganda: Kibale chimpanzee forest, Queen elizabeth national park, Lake Bunyonyi, Bwindi Impenetrable gorilla Forest and Lake mburo National park. Therefore this Uganda safari takes you all around the different tourism circuits of Uganda. The safari will start with the discovery of the cultural treasures which include the Royal Kasubi tombs, the Uganda museum, the Bahai temple and Makerere University as well as other heritage sites.

The safari will take you for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National park - probably the park with the highest density of primates on the African continent and later visit the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you can see a wide diversity of game such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards. The climax of the safari will be tracking the mountain gorillas from Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. Mountain gorillas are one of the most endangered species vanishing from the wild. Scientists estimate that currently there are about 700 mountain gorillas in the world with half of its population residing in Uganda´s Bwindi forest.

Day 01: Arrival at Airport
Our tour Company representative will pick you from the airport and transfer you to the proposed accommodation site in Kampala. If your flight arrives in the morning you are advised to change money. You can visit some exciting places with the help of your driver/guide. These may include; Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the Uganda museum among others .Dinner and overnight at The Lodge/ Cassia Lodge/ Kampala Serena/ Sheraton Hotel


Day 2. To Murchison Falls National Park
Head northwest from Kampala to go through the famous Luwero triangle and have a stop in Masindi town for lunch and then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. From Masindi you will pass through Budongo forest  to reach the top of the stunning falls where the placid Nile passes through a narrow cleft to create a thunderous roar as it falls about 150 meters deep. Enjoy the sunset as, you rest and spend the night at Paraa Safari Lodge / Red Chilli river camp/ Sambiya River Lodge. 

Day 3 Launch cruise along the Victoria Nile
Take breakfast and go for an early morning game drive where you will cite a variety of game such as Elephants, Lions, buffaloes, hartebeests, waterbucks, Oribi, rothchild’s giraffe, hyenas and many others. Return from the game drive for late breakfast and a rest at the Lodge to prepare for an afternoon launch cruise downstream of the Victoria Nile and the base of the falls to see animals like the Hippopotami, waterbucks, buffaloes and crocodiles. The shores also harbor variety of bird species such as Hornbills, goliath herons, pelican bee-eaters and the rare shoebill. After this great experience go for dinner and a night at Paraa Safari Lodge / Red Chilli river camp/ Sambiya River Lodge. 

Day 4: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
After breakfast, drive to Kibale National park via Mubende with packed lunch. Arriving late afternoon, take a nature walk in Bigodi swamp to look for different bird species like the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler and many more also to see plants. Dinner and overnight at Luxury-Ndali safari lodge Uganda in Fortportal/Mid-range- Rwenzori View Guest House/Basic- Kanyankyu ecological site.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park.
This park is commonly accepted for a superlative diversity and highest massing of primates in the Great Lakes region. Here we shall take a nature walk in the tropical rainforest, search for wild chimpanzees with trained guides. Take lunch in the afternoon and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing via the crater lakes region with over 30 crater lakes to be explored. The place has got a ravishing and luring terrain. Dinner and overnight at Luxury -Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge/ Kyambura Wildlife Lodge/ Hippo Hill Camp/Budget- institute of Ecology.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Go for an early morning game drive in search for savannah wildlife. Expect encounters of Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Antelopes and much birdlife! We return to the lodge for mid-morning breakfast and then later have lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, which connects two lakes; George and Edward. This cruise will give you encounters of many avian species and animals taking water along the River banks. Relax till dinner and overnight at your proposed accommodation prior.BLD

Day7: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi.
Take breakfast, have a short drive to Kyambura gorge and take a walk in the gorge and Kyambura River where the game reserve derives its name. Expect various primates most especially Chimpanzee of different species ,Black and white Colobus monkeys  and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species. Have lunch en route then you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi for another scenario, arrive in time for evening birding. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.

Day 8: Lake Bunyonyi.
We make a ride on Lake Bunyonyi in dugout canoes and after lunch depending on one’s preference; take leisure walks, mountain biking or swim, sun-bathe name your choice. Dinner and Overnight at Bushara Island Camp/Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
En route to Bwindi and arrive at mid-morning. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Lake kitandara luxury tented camp/or Basic - Buhoma community bandas. Take an optional in the evening for Buhoma Village walk (extra payment) OR relax enjoying the evening till dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Leave for the long awaited adventure of Gorilla tracking in the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Gorilla tracking is unpredictable; it is difficult to estimate how long you may take the jungle; however the excursion may take 2-8 hours. It all depends on the movement of these great apes."The excitement of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile!" is what anyone who has made the tracking will be enhanced to say in any circumstances. Dinner and Overnight at Lake kitandara luxury tented accommodation or Basic - Buhoma community bandas.

Day 11: To Lake Mburo National Park.
After breakfast we drive to Lake Mburo National Park where we have an evening game drive in search for; Topes, Buffaloes, Water buck and not forgetting the Eland, (the largest of the Antelopes found in Uganda). Dinner and Overnight at; Luxury- Mantana Luxury Tented Camp or drie to Mbarara at Agip Motel or basic at rwonyo rest camp at the park headquaters.

Day 12: Lake Mburo National Park.
At dawn, take game drive in park and later return to your accommodation for late breakfast and the boat rides on the Lake. Leave for Kampala in the afternoon stopping over the Uganda Equator for some shots and visit to the Craft Village. Later you will be dropped at your hotel in Kampala for overnight.

Day 13: Kampala City Tour.
After your breakfast, take a trip to Uganda's capital city which starts in the morning at 0830hrs after your breakfast and will take you on a tour within and without the greenest city in Africa.
Visit the Bahai temple - the biggest and only religious temple building of its kind in Africa. Bahai temple is a good site for picnic because of its beautiful picnic scenery rightly placed on a hill that gives you a view of the city.
Then the Uganda Museum - a historical feature with lots of colonial, cultural and traditional collections pass by the Makerere University -the first and the oldest university in East Africa.
Kasubi tombs - The largest crypt in Africa and special burial place for Uganda kings. Our guide will be pleased to give you a brief and interesting history on the same. With the Namirembe Cathedral - the first and oldest religious feature that was constructed by the European missionaries. Then have Lunch at the African Village Restaurant. En route to Namugongo Shrines - a historical place where the first Ugandan Christians were murdered by the orders of a Buganda king. Then pass by the Ugandan craft village -do some shopping if you wish African art, curving, and masks of your desire. Return to your Hotel for Dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Departure from Entebbe International Airport.
Depending on the time of your flight, have an expedition before the Airport transfer. Do some shopping for souvenir for remembrance. Pack to your bags and get ready for the 40 minutes ride to the Airport, Check in before time of the flight and the company representative will be off.
Note should be taken that we have got two types of Safaris, Some opt for Luxury Safari (lodges / hotels) and others opt for Budget Safaris (camping and simple accommodation).
