Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is 176Kms from Kampala City.
Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority started Ziwa Rhino in 1980s.
The Sanctuary is in Nakasongola District, started in Idi Amini’s era of war and unrest.
The Sanctuary re-introduced the displaced Black and white Rhinos from Kidepo Park and Murchison Falls National Parks.
It is the only place to see rhinos in the wild in Uganda and Presently the sanctuary has thirty two (32) southern white rhinos.
Activities at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
The famous Rhino Tracking , Bird watching the Shoebill Trek and other bird species, Canoe Ride and Night Walk or Nature Walk
Currently the Rhino sanctuary has 22 southern white rhinos and a Rhino Tracking permit cost 50USD
Ziwa Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary one Day Itinerary
This Ziwa Tour is suitable for business Travellers with limited time and can not visit bigger National Parks like Murchison falls Park or Queen Elizabeth park
At 6:00am after morning break fast at your booked hotel or Lodge, our safari guide will meet you and brief you about the excursion.
You will drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary Uganda through Luweero to Nakasongola where this Sanctuary is found.
The drive from Kampala to the Rhino Sanctuary is 2-3 hours drive.
On arrival at the sanctuary, you will get briefing about the Rhino tracking exercise.
Tracking is 2-3 hours in the company of well trained and knowledgeable local guides.
The Tracking is done on foot from the Sanctuary’s headquarters.
After the tracking, you will go for lunch and soft drink then drive back to Kampala and arrive in evening.
Combine Ziwa Rhino tracking with Murchison falls National park for 3 days if you have enough time or love to adventure.
Guests coming to Ziwa after 6pm, must inform the administration in advance because the sanctuary gates close early.
