In Bwindi National Park, Oruzogo Gorillas stay in Ruhija sector in Bwindi impenetrable forest of the southwest part of Uganda, the Oruzogo Gorilla family is one of the three gorilla families in Ruhija Sector and has the biggest number of members.
Oruzogo gorilla group Ruhija is the recently habituated Gorilla Family for Gorilla trekking and has 23 members headed by a dominant Silver back called Tibirikwata. The group got its name from a “Oruzogo Tree Plant”, the names of some of the current 16 Gorilla members are Buchura, Katooto, Mutesi, Kashundwe, Nyakiina, Kaganga, Kanywani, Busungu, Birungi, Otaka, Bwoba, Karimi, Kiromba and Kakombe. All these names have meanings describing the major characteristics of the gorillas; Kanywani means friendly, Katooto means young one, Busungu means short tempered, Kaganga means the giant one, Kakobe means the one that looks like a monkey and many others.
It was first visited by gorilla lovers in June 2011 and is the most sought Gorilla group in Ruhija sector
