Virunga National Park is one of the four national parks in the whole world with the surviving mountain coming after Volcanoes National Park Rwanda and Mgahinga Gorilla Park with Bwindi Forest National Park Uganda.
Nyiragongo Volcano hike
Nyiragongo volcano is an exciting attraction that will take you to the world’s greatest active larva. The volcano is very active and scenic. Travellers hike up to the summit of the volcano and have a clear view of the dazzling lake with lots fumes coming out of melilite nephelinite. The nyiragongo hike is a 2 day trip that involves climbers to overnight at the shelter on the summit of the volcano

Chimpanzee Habituation Experience and Chimpanzee Tracking
From Mikeno lodge guests can participate in Chimpanzee Habituation program, a project that aims towards bringing the chimpanzee population back to Virunga National Park or Chimpanzee Tracking where guests interact with man’s closest cousins. The chimpanzee habituation permit cost 100USD only.
Guests are picked from Kigali Rwanda on arrival at the Airport or from Goma border at Grande Brierre by Katona Tours drivers and are dropped back to the venues we picked from.
