Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Trekking Located in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kyambura Godge was formed by a 16 km long River Kyambura which gets most of its water from the rocks surrounding the gorge and during the rainy season. In Queen Elizabeth National Park, a vast swamp connects Kyambura Gorge with the Kazinga Channel. The Gorge derived it’s name Kyambura from a failure of tracing people and property that had been washed away by a once heavy rains in the area that caused massive floods. “Kyambura” literally means lost.

Kyambura Gorge is surrounded by vast summer grasslands on all sides although human plantations and villages are not very far off.  The surrounding Savannah receives a lot of sunshine while the gorge itself is remains relatively cool because of the tall trees less direct sunlight.

The Gorge is a home to several primates including chimpanzees, Baboons, Columbus monkeys, different bird species, butter flies and Elephants.

Day 1 – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park from Kampala/Entebbe Uganda or Kigali Rwanda

After mid-morning breakfast, our Tour guide picks you from your hotel or residence in Kampala/Entebbe/Kigali, drives to Mbarara (277 Km from Kampala) westwards via Masaka having a brief stopover at Equator and Lunch break on the way. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge (luxury), Twin Lake Safari lodge/ Ihamba safari Lodge (mid-range), Queen Elizabeth bush lodge/ Mweya hostels (budget)

Day 2 – Morning Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon launch cruise along Kazinga channel

Have a morning Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura gorge which takes 2 – 4 hours, return to the lodge for lunch and in afternoon proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park headquarters for a 2 hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga channel is worthwhile an opportunity to see breeding Hippos, Buffalos, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also enables visitor chance to see spectacular birds such as pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork. Return for Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge (luxury), Twin Lake Safari lodge/ Ihamba safari Lodge (mid-range), Queen Elizabeth bush lodge/ Mweya hostels (budget)

Day 3 –Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala/Kigali for your late departure flight
