Mount Bisoke Volcano Hike
Bisoke Mountain is the easiest Volcanic Mountain in the Virunga ranges to hike on Rwanda side. The briefing point is at Kinigi at RDB offices. Standing at 3700m, Mount Bisoke has the typical conic shape of a “perfect” volcano and in its crater lies a deep crater lake.
Mount Bisoke Volcano Hike is simply a 6 hours hike including the 2 hours descending down to the starting point. Experienced hikers can get to the top of this mountain in a matter of 3 hours or even less and return to the base in about an hour.
A long the way during Mount Bisoke Volcano Hike, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats starting with bamboo forests, then moving into Hagenia – Hypericum forest and finally moving through Senecio – Lobelia bush near the summit with spectacular crater lake.
Hikers on a Bisoke Volcano climbing are expected to be at the park headquarters at Kinigi at 7:00 am to be briefed and be assigned a park ranger. The park rangers are usually natives of the Volcanoes national park vicinity and thus very knowledgeable about the mountain adventures.
